Meeting with Joel

Marcus’ contact Joel Gethin Lewis generously agreed to meet me at CSM so I could show some visuals and have a chat. I thought I’d record the chat. But the main things to come out of it were; get coding – he gave me some great links to learn 2 coding languages which he recommended “P5.JS and Processing.” He told me how I could implement coding into my project and the logical steps of teaching myself how to code. We also formulated a nice link together to the “cottage craft” that computing originally was, comparing it to the loom which follows a grid to create imagery like the early digital image making processes. This encouraged me to think outside the digital zone, something which I will further pursue. It was so amazing to meet with Joel his practice and journey was really inspiring and his course of computational at LCC sounds like an amazing thing to pursue down the line.
