Talk with Greg

I found Greg’s presentation really interesting. It was fascinating to hear he got his start in textile design and how the typography in the opening of films like Akira was really inspiring to him, similar to myself. It got me very excited for the post-digital strand next year.

I went to see him after to talk about the systems approach inherent in my position brief, looking for advice of how to effectively get out of the system. He said the input is too similar to the system. In other words, the images I am looking to create are too similar to the ones of the hobbit which I’m working from. This has persuaded me to go analogue and allow for a system where the unexpected happens for interesting results. This also brings back a digital analogue balance which I always find really engaging working with.
