I Presented all my visuals to a small group of students and Marcus. Below are my notes:
He was Impressed by the amount of experiments I did and how I employed the principle of “thinking through making”. There was some interesting criticism about how I’m letting the system infer the visuals too much. I’m a graphic designer, I should impart my own design sense on the visuals more.

The visuals I’ve chosen to explore interest me so much because they are clunky, traditionally not particularly graphically effective with the colour, layout type setting and font etc. The images are in a sense symbols and have been inferred by the technology they were made for. I argued I like this, it becomes a visualisation of technological limitations which I find interesting. It’s definitely something to think about and perhaps I need a greater balance between my own visual imparting other than the conditions I’ve created. I’ll continue to develop this balance.
I also asked his advice about meeting his past colleague. I wondered if I should show all my visuals like I did in this setting. But he said just go and talk. Marcus said how we work in very similar ways, so I was really looking forward to seeing Joel’s insights. I previously got in contact with Marcus to ask about any contacts and advice on how to work from my crit from Joanna about thinking about an audience.
