Joanna Interim Review

I took my early created visuals and inpsiration sources for my review with Joanna Pestana, a tutor who is new to me. I had a quick look at her work: https://twitter.com/joanampestana. She specialises in my digital design sphere that I’m becoming interested in so it was really interesting to hear her insights and see her talk on her practice a few days later. I was particularly captivated by her graphic language for the LCC Summer show that had a motion graphics installation as part of it.

It’s also really inspiring to see how her and Max work collaboratively as part of the same design group. I feel so lucky to be in contact with these practising tutors who are so in my field and get me thinking about specifically what I want to do in the future.

This is what I showed in my review:

I thought it would be good to show my contact sheet of images from port meadow – an initial source of inspiration and a possible content for my image and text processes later on.

I also showed a visualisation of my AI text generating software using the text Beowulf to see it become abstracted by this technology. I also began to experiment with image degrading processes.

Finally I wanted to show the importance of the media archeology angle to my project and thought I should show a picture of the Mac I acquired to see if Joanna had any advice on how it can be used.

Below is her feedback:
