After producing my screen prints, I had a tutorial with Max.
I talked about my research and the beginnings of my “final outcome”. Because research and the process that stemmed from it was such a big part of my project I would like to incorporate it into my final piece. I discussed this with Max, he said there’s a balance between showing every bit of information and completely overloading the piece. He talked about the importance of interpretation and the value of explaining my process. One of my criticisms before is that maybe something makes sense to me but it’s hard to pick up for other people and what I want to communicate is lost. He said one way of going about this is to have one more simplistic message on the surface level that is easily accessible to all but if a viewer were to look for longer or learn more about the process the complexity would also be present.

Below are my notes and some points made:
“importance of image or purely on narrative
I proposed my idea of an analogue mapping out of the text-based adventure game ” The Hobbit”. After refining my concept I tried to recreate my digital starting image in an analogue method. I would take this process into the text of the text-based adventure game. Max mentioned Muriel Cooper
envisioning 3D user interfaces and digital spaces long before technologies such as VR.
Look at mapping, cartography… layers, layers of mediums, digital analogue, projection mapping over the analogue map. Print projection.
different ways you can map, think all the things you can tick and untick on google
what is the role of imagery – cross road, need to make a decision is imagery important or is it purely narrative I’m now focusing on…
console commands, games and digital interaction like text based adventure games hidden in websites…
Programming P5.JS
Concept vs aestetic, how much design do you put on, sometimes good to be dictator within a system
“The Task of the Translator”, my reference – importance in my interpretation – be conscious
accessibility – at surface level easy to understand, take apart structure to reveal complexity
As we talked more I thought back to the initial point. I discussed having an Oliver Laric style essay video to complement my mapped out analogue text-based adventure game.
What is the structure saying, is it informing a narrative – how much room for interpretation is there, allow room for audience interpretation.
Importance of wording.
