Mutiny Crit

For our crit we printed out the photo we took in the school on A0. We thought this would be the best way for everyone to see the poster within the environment and how it could blend in with the rest of the walls.

Our mutiny crit went really well. Zelda reacted really positively to our idea. I think she was impressed we found such a solid concept after scrapping so many ideas. It was so great to have the second years on hand for feedback and everyone’s ideas were really strong.

We were advised to follow up our research at the Wellcome collection if we were interested in this area. The Play Well exhibition (https://wellcomecollection.org/exhibitions/XSg-7xEAACcAGVXc) showcases design within education. There was an interesting criticism from a student Grace that A-Z posters are used to teach phonics and so the words used match the sound they make. Obviously some of our words didn’t conform to this. Zelda suggested one or two of the words could be different and said that each image should be understandable to children. She said she wasn’t sure a child would necessarily be able to understand a credit card representing fraud or a raised British flag representing Xenophobia. She told us the school we photographed our poster in was known to help graphics students in the past. She also said we could go back and reprint the image better but this is something we understood would need to be looked at. Below is our crit diary:
